Connor McDavid showed up to Milano ready to ball out. The Canadian captain has nine points through three games, including a goal and two assists in Canada’s 10-2 demolition of France at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.
Three games, three three-point performances. McDavid became the first player to pull that off at an Olympics with NHL players involved.

Canada closed out Group A with a spotless 3-0-0-0 record and a +17 goal differential, and the team is looking like the favorite for the top overall seed heading into the knockout rounds.
The numbers are starting to get historic. McDavid tied Jonathan Toews’ Canadian record of 10 points at an NHL-attended Games, a mark Toews set in 2010.
He’s sitting two points behind the all-time tournament record of 11, shared by Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu, with plenty of hockey still left to play.
His performance against France told the whole story. McDavid set up Tom Wilson’s first-ever Olympic goal 11:19 into the opening period, then found Cale Makar just past the two-minute mark of the second.
Twenty seconds into the third, he capped off a rush himself to push the lead to 7-1.
He leads all scorers at the tournament with nine points on two goals and seven assists, three ahead of Slovakia’s Juraj Slafkovsky.

The depth showed up too. Six Canadian players finished with multiple points, with McDavid, Macklin Celebrini and Sidney Crosby each posting three. Crosby’s outing pushed him to 15 career Olympic points in NHL-attended Games, the most ever by a Canadian.
Canada is into the Quarter-Finals. The team will keep an eye on the United States against Germany, needing a 10-goal margin to claim the top seed.
