President Bola Tinubu has expressed sympathy to traders and residents of Kano State following a devastating fire at the Singer Market over the weekend.
The fire, which broke out on Saturday evening and raged into Sunday morning, caused significant damage to the food market. The incident occurred less than two weeks after a previous fire destroyed dozens of shops and properties at the same market.
President Tinubu, who contacted Abba Kabir Yusuf for a situation report, described the event as tragic and expressed concern over its recurring nature.
He has directed a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the market fires to prevent further losses and provide relief to affected traders, according to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The President’s intervention underscores the federal government’s commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring accountability in the management of public safety.
