This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air is a European-market convertible that underwent a refurbishment while in France, and it was acquired by the seller in 2017 and relocated to Austria. Finished in gray and white over a coordinated interior, the car is powered by a 265ci Turbo-Fire V8 that is paired with a two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated black soft top, 15″ steel wheels, power steering, dual chrome mirrors, and back-up lights in addition to a push-button radio, a heater, a power-adjustable front bench, and power windows. This Bel Air convertible is now offered with service and inspections records and Austrian registration documents.

Finished from the factory in India Ivory, the car was repainted in its current combination of gray and white during prior refurbishment work. It has a power-operated black soft top, a hood ornament, dual chrome mirrors, back-up lights, and chrome bumpers and trim.

Steel 15″ wheels wear covers and are mounted with Maxxis whitewall tires. The car has power steering, and braking is provided by front and rear drums.

The split-back front bench is power adjustable and trimmed in gray and white vinyl, which extends to the rear bench. The cabin is outfitted with a heater, power windows, a fire extinguisher, and a push-button radio.

The three-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and frames a 180-km/h speedometer along with readouts for fuel level and coolant temperature. An appraisal document shown in the gallery below notes that while the speedometer reads in km/h, miles are displayed on the odometer, which currently shows 2k miles. The seller reports having added 10k kilometers under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The car is equipped with a 265ci Turbo-Fire V8 that features a two-barrel carburetor.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a two-speed automatic transmission. The seller reports a fluid leak when the car has been sitting.

Decoding the trim tag reveals the following information:

  • Style: 56-1067 – 1956 Bel Air two-door convertible
  • Body: L17838 – Lansing, Michigan assembly plant
  • Trim: 602 – Charcoal/Ivory vinyl
  • Paint: 694 – India Ivory paint

The General Motors (France) chassis plate affixed to the car is shown above.

Inspection and service records are included in the sale.

The vehicle is being sold on its Austrian registration.
