Unrelenting gang of terrorists, ten in number, stormed on Sunday morning the ancient town of Kakafu in Patigi local government area of Kwara state, and abducted  four residents in a fresh attack.
Vanguard reliably gathered that the suspected bandits  invaded the town, firing gunshots sporadically into the air  to create panic among the residents who ran helter-skelter.

It was during the pandemonium that four residents who were running away to safety  were reportedly abducted by the bandits who took them to a nearby forest in the town, said the source.

Sources close to the town told Vanguard Correspondent in Ilorin  that the  identities of the victims were yet to be officially confirmed at the time of filing this report, but it was learnt that they are mostly women.

A resident who craved anonymity for security concerns confirmed the ugly development.

He stated that, as a result of the development, many of the residents of the town have fled the town to seek refuge in the neighbouring areas of the local government.

He described the incident as another disturbing sign of the worsening security situation across parts of the state, particularly in rural communities where armed groups now operate with little resistance.

He added  that the Sunday attack came barely 24 hours after another violent incident in the area.

Earlier on   Saturday, Vanguard reliably reported that suspected bandits reportedly attacked a vigilante and community guards’ checkpoint along Gamji Road in Gbugbu, also in Patigi local government area of the state.

It was gathered that the suspected attackers reportedly opened fire on security operatives stationed at the checkpoint, leaving at least one officer of the Nigerian Army injured after he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

Apart from this, it was gathered that a vigilante operative who was attacked during the assault  suffered a serious injury to the forehead.

Contacted a senior police officer at the Patigi Divisional Police Headquarters, who, upon being asked not to be mentioned in print, confirmed the incident.

According to him,”We are working with the other security agencies to rescue the victims and to ensure the protection of the life and property of the residents.
