A donut delivery driver has been left with serious injuries following a vicious roadside attack in Melbourne.

The father says his life has changed forever after he was punched by two scooter riders in Albert Park.

More than two months later, Satya Perumal is still struggling to speak, with every sentence reminding him of the night he was bashed.

The 41-year-old was on his usual donut delivery run when he came across two riders on scooters doing wheelies in the middle of traffic.

"Then I say, what are you doing?," Perumal recalled.

The father says the dispute over the road became violent when he tried to call police.

"It's two guys, [they] hit me everywhere," he said.

"Then I opened my eyes, two guys run away [and] take the motorbikes."

Battered and bruised, Perumal has undergone major jaw surgery since the attack on December 13.

He is on the waitlist for a second operation and struggling to keep his family afloat.

"[I'm] like a poor man, I go out asking for money," he said.

"The electric bill is already overdue, gas bill overdue. It never happened like this [before]."

A GoFundMe has been setup to help them in the short term but Perumal says he feels like he's being ignored by investigators.

"The police say the case is closed," he claims. "How you can close simply like that?"

Victoria Police insist the investigation is still active but they've hit a major roadblock.

There's no CCTV from the scene, no new witnesses and Perumal's boss says the truck's dashcam wasn't recording.

So for now, there's no way to identify the attackers.
