Two Convicted In ₹1.76-crore Trust Fraud Case In Nellore

The case, which dragged on in the court for years, related to the financial dealings of the Help to Poor People International Trust of Gudur. Originally registered at Gudur I Town police station, the case was transferred to the CID Economic Offences Wing on February 16, 2012.

It was based on a complaint lodged on January 6, 2012, by Adisetty Suresh Karna of Ashok Nagar, Gudur.

According to the prosecution, the accused — Buruga Suman, 43, of Ranga Reddy district and Nakka Vamsy, 50, of Medak district, Telangana — floated the trust with fraudulent intent. They collected ₹11,000 each from around 1,600 people in Gudur and nearby areas, by promising high returns. The funds, amounting to nearly ₹1.76 crore, were allegedly misappropriated.

After investigation by CID, a charge sheet was filed in February 2021. Delivering the judgegment on February 13, 2026, the court convicted both accused under Sections 120-B, 406 and 420 IPC and Section 5 of the APPDFE Act, 1999. In addition to imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of ₹75,000 on each.

The investigation was supervised by DSP Kota Reddy, CID, Nellore. DGP (CID) Ravi Shankarand SP Eswar Rao, announced cash rewards for the investigating team.
