Congress CPI Tie in Kothagudem

Nalgonda:The Congress and CPI secured 22 divisions each in the elections to the Kothagudem Municipal Corporation in Bhadradri–Kothagudem district.

The two parties had an understanding during the polls, while the BRS won eight divisions, BJP one, and independents seven. With Congress and CPI tied, speculation is rife in political circles over who will claim the mayor’s post. CPI is expected to press its case strongly, having matched Congress in numbers.

Meanwhile, Congress secured majority wards in Aswaraopet and Yellandu municipalities, enabling it to win the chairman’s posts without outside support.

The results of three municipalities in Bhadradri–Kothagudem district have further consolidated Congress’s position, though the mayoral race in Kothagudem remains wide open.
