Armed bandits who abducted the wife of a slain forest guard, Raheem Ogunrinde, have demanded a ₦100 million ransom for her release.
This comes barely 24 hours after a bloody attack on Oba-Isin community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday evening, during which the husband, popularly known as Baba Kafaya, lost his life in a confrontation with the armed bandits who attacked the community.
His wife, Mrs Funke Ogunrinde, was subsequently abducted by the bandits after her husband was killed in a gun duel.
The ancient town has since been placed under tight security, with security operatives taking over the area to prevent further attacks, according to findings by DAILY POST.
Following the invasion, residents of the community fled to safer neighbouring communities for fear of further attacks.
However, a family source, who requested anonymity, told journalists in Ilorin on Thursday that the abductors had demanded a ₦100 million ransom for the release of the wife of the slain forest guard.
“The bandits called this morning and said that if we want our mother, Mrs Funke Ogunrinde, alive, we should pay ₦100 million as ransom.
“And we have been moving up and down to raise the money. We have also asked the bandits to reduce the amount, but they are yet to listen to us.
“We are also grieving the killing of our father, Mr Raheem Ogunrinde, by the suspected bandits during their invasion of our town on Wednesday. We are arranging his burial as I speak with you now,” the source said.
