Sri Lanka vs Oman

Sri Lanka comfortably beat Oman on the sixth morning of the World Cup. Kusal Mendis (61 in 45), Pavan Rathnayake (60 in 28), and Dasun Shanaka (50 in 20) helped the hosts post 225-5 at Pallekele before their bowlers restricted Oman to 120-9 – though not before Mohammad Nadeem (53 not out in 56) became the oldest to score a fifty in the history of the tournament.

Nepal vs Italy

The sixth day was highlighted by Italy’s maiden World Cup win, against Nepal at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite struggling to break free, Nepal looked reasonably placed at 93-3 in the 14th over. They then collapsed to a mere 123 against some excellent bowling from Crishan Kalugamage (4-0-18-3) and Ben Manenti (4-0-9-2).

The Mosca brothers, Justin (60 not out in 44) and Anthony (62 not out in 32) then helped Italy race to a 10-wicket win inside 13 overs.

India vs Namibia

India blazed away to the fastest 100 in T20 World Cup history, taking a mere 41 balls to reach there. Ishan Kishan top-scored with a 24-ball 61, while Hardik Pandya hit 52 in 28 balls. However, Gerhard Erasmus (4-0-20-4) held them back, and they lost five wickets for four runs in the last 11 balls to finish on 209-9. Led by Varun Chakravarthy (2-0-7-3), India then bowled out Namibia for 116.

T20 World Cup 2026: Updated points table after day six

India rose to the top of the points table in Group A, tied on points with Pakistan but ahead on net run rate. Sri Lanka, too, reached the top in Group B, though Australia and Zimbabwe have a game each in hand. Italy, meanwhile, went past England to secure third place.
