EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s (February 12) episode which is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) was left reeling after piecing together the truth about who really killed Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), with some assistance from Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman).

The Queen Vic landlady has long thought Chrissie was the culprit, believing it to be the grand finale in her twisted revenge against nemesis Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan).

Longtime EastEnders fans will recall how Chrissie and Zoe were involved in the death of original landlord of the East End boozer Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), which Chrissie ultimately served time for.

Zoe, meanwhile, was tormented by a mystery assailant for months upon her return to Walford last year.

It turned out that newcomer Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) – who was later confirmed to be Zoe and Anthony’s biological daughter – was the culprit and she’d been in cahoots with Chrissie in order to make Zoe’s life a living hell.

When Anthony wound up dead on Christmas Day following a showdown with her, Zoe was arrested for the crime – despite the fact that she was innocent. Kat reckoned Chrissie was the killer, unaware that the true assailant – Jasmine – was much closer to home.

With Jake Moon (Joel Beckett) back in the Square, Kat urged him to reach out to missing Chrissie, hoping that he would assist her in the mission to free Zoe from jail.

Wanting to reconcile with her beau, Chrissie responded to Jake’s message and arranged to meet with him, though she was unaware of his ulterior motives.

Kat gatecrashed the reunion, demanding that Chrissie come clean and admit her role in Anthony’s demise. Chrissie, however, was baffled by her claims, having no idea who Anthony even is.

The former Queen Vic landlady fled the scene with Jake, determined to fix their broken relationship. Jake, meanwhile, had a change of heart, admitting that he believes she’s innocent of the crime she’s accused of.

Wanting to be free of these claims once and for all, Christie returned to the Square and, following a little reunion with Tracey (Jane Slaughter), she confronted Kat.

Kat explained the ins and outs of what transpired at Christmas and, knowing Zoe is innocent, revealed why Chrissie must be the killer.

Chrissie, however, very quickly poked holes in her story and put another option on the table: Jasmine.

Kat was left reeling at the thought – but the more Chrissie reiterated that Jasmine was capable of such a thing, the more she realised that she might have a point.

The question is: with Jasmine missing, will Kat be able to locate her? And can she secure Zoe’s freedom?
