Adam Sandler Reunites With Dustin Hoffman for Remake of Acclaimed 2001 Movie

Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman are reuniting yet again, for a remake of a classic 2001 French drama.

What movie will see Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman reunite?

According to a new report from Nexus Point News, Hoffman has joined the cast of the remake of Time Out, a 2001 French movie from director Laurent Cantet. Sandler is also involved with the film, which tells the story of a man laid off from his job who pretends to go to work every day to avoid telling his family what happened.

According to Nexus’ report, Sandler will play the lead character in the movie, with Hoffman set to portray Sandler’s father. The Time Out remake was written by Scott Cooper (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere), and Cooper is also set to direct the film. Christian Bale was originally attached to Sandler’s role, but Sandler has apparently stepped in throughout the film’s development.

For Sandler, this would be yet another big project for the star. In 2025, he starred in two high-profile films, including a Happy Gilmore sequel for Netflix, as well as starring opposite George Clooney in the comedy-drama Jey Kelly, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance. Hoffman is a two-time Academy Award winner, and has most recently appeared in 2025’s Tuner.

Both Hoffman and Sandler have worked together in the past as well. Both starred in Noah Baumbach’s 2017 comedy-drama The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), which also received critical praise for its performances, which included Ben Stiller.
