Lagos State deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, former governors of the state, Mr Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, were among dignitaries that celebrated a former deputy governor of the state, Princess Sarah Sosan, on the occasion of her 70th birthday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the dignitaries attended a Church Thanksgiving Service, held in Sosan’s honour at Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday.
The celebration was also graced by Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora, a former Minister of State for Health; Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro,a former Minister of State for Defence, and Dame Pauline Tallen, a former Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development.
Wives of present and former governors in the South West, including Mrs Bolanle Ambode, Mrs Bisi Fayemi, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, were present.
Chief Abiola Dosunmu, the Queen Mother of Lagos. traditional rulers, Lagos White Cap Chiefs, Prince Tajudeen Olusi,who is the Chairman, Lagos State Governance Advisory Council,and Lagos APC top officials, led by Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, also graced the occasion.
Also present at the event were a former deputy governor, Femi Pedro; Sen. Ganiu Solomon and a former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu.
Sharing her testimonies during the short thanking service before the birthday reception, Sosan, who appreciated the friends and family for gracing the occasion, singled out Dame Fashola for support.
“I give God the glory. I just want to glorify Almighty God. Seventy years is of the grace of God. God has been faithful to me.
“Indeed, whenever I look back from beginnings, tears come out of my eyes. I appreciate his goodness and mercy.
“Where I am today is not by power, but mercy. Though I planned this small, but the love of people made this happen. All thanks to my Saviour and Sustainer,” she said.
Sosan said, like everyone, she had moments of ups and downs, but God’s Grace had kept her standing .
“I affirm the Grace of God in my life and I will serve him till the very end,” she added.
In her sermon, titled ” Celebrating the Life of Grace”, a cleric, Pastor Sola Olawuyi ,Senior Pastor of Prevailing Glory Ministry in Lagos,, affirmed that the life of Sosan remained a testimony of God’s mercy, love, preservation and hope.
Olawuyi, who read from Biblical Reference in Psalm 103: 1-2, urged all the living souls to be grateful and thankful to God for all the benefits received from Him.
The cleric said: “Her life is not only successful on heart but also secured in eternity. Her journey reminds us that hope exists for the living.
“Your are a mentor guiding many, your impact will live beyond you. From your humble beginning, God has elevated you to prominence.
“Your are a woman of faith, esteemed mother of wisdom and faith. We can have 70 reasons to thank God for her life.”
The cleric, who described Sosan’s life a remarkable life of grace, legacy, leadership and faith in God, urged all the living to appreciate God for life, voice and salvation.
Speaking to NAN, Obanikoro, an APC chieftain described the former deputy governor as an icon with many achievements.
Obanikoro said “Princess Sarah Sosan is a very wonderful sister, a fantastic human being,who is ever ready to assist anyone that comes her way. She is unbelievably good.”
In interview with NAN, Mamora, who applauded Sosan for being a blessing to many and the state, described her as a woman of faith, humility, honesty and integrity.
NAN reports that special prayers were offered  for Sosan, her husband, retired Navy  Commander  Oluseyi Sosan, her children and other family members.
