‘You can’t shout at me’ – Ebonyi, Kano senators clash as Umahi defends budget [VIDEO]

Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, representing the Ebonyi North Central Senatorial District and his colleague, Rufai Sani Hanga, the senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, clashed during a budget defence session on Wednesday.

Drama ensued when the Ministry of Works, led by Minister David Umahi, appeared to defend the 2026 budget.

In a viral video from the session, Senator Nwaebonyi could be heard shouting at the Kano senator, who responded by saying, “Don’t shout at me.”

During the heated exchange, Nwaebonyi was heard saying, “I can preside over this meeting,” to which Senator Hanga replied, “No, I am also a presiding officer.”

In the video, Borno State Senator Ali Ndume was also seen urging Senator Hanga to remain calm, citing the presence of cameras.

However, Hanga fired back at the Ebonyi lawmaker, claiming that he was elected with ten times the number of votes that Nwaebonyi received in his election.
