Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has revealed the outcome of a meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, in Minna, Niger State.

He said the Oyo State governor has agreed to form an alliance with a coalition of opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.

DAILY POST reports that the duo met behind closed doors with former military president, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, on Tuesday.

Atiku, who addressed the press shortly after the meeting, claimed that there was no discussion about his presidential ambition.

However, Fayose, in a statement on his official X handle on Wednesday, said the discussion centred on the 2027 presidential election.

According to Fayose, the venue of the meeting was carefully chosen to ensure confidentiality.

He claimed that during the meeting, Governor Makinde agreed to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the condition that he would be handed the party’s vice-presidential ticket as Atiku’s running mate.

Fayose further claimed that the governor offered to make available a sum of N10 billion, to be released in two tranches, as his initial contribution towards what he described as the “proper take-off of the ADC,” and that he would make additional funds available when the campaign begins.
