Where are the Commanders in CBS' post-Super Bowl NFL power rankings?

Let's be realistic. The Washington Commanders' 2025 season was one of the worst collapses between seasons we've seen in a long time. Going from a deep playoff run in 2024 to a five-win team was shocking to the majority of the league, but that's what happened.

Now that the Super Bowl is over, we're starting to take a look at the 2026 season while still evaluating the 2025 season. CBS Sports' Pete Prisco recently released his first post-Super Bowl power rankings, and he wasn't very favorable to the Commanders, which landed at 27 on his list.

They went from an NFC title team to a bad one in a year. Injuries didn't help, but they have issues on defense too.

Yes, there are definite issues on defense for the Commanders, but can we just take a beat and acknowledge that injuries were a major factor in the Commanders' failed season? It wasn't just Jayden Daniels who was injured this year. Terry McLaurin spent weeks sidelined for the first time in his career. Austin Ekeler was lost for the season. Deatrich Wise, Javontae Jean-Baptiste, Trey Amos, Luke McCaffrey, and Dorance Armstrong are only a few more who suffered injuries that sidelined them for multiple weeks or for the season.

Even if those players returned, how effective were they? There's a lot to consider when looking at which free agents to keep and which ones to let go, but the Commanders have a lot of great pieces on both sides of the ball. The good news is that Washington has plenty of money to spend on upgrades in free agency and the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
