Tottenham have dismissed Thomas Frank as head coach following the side’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.
Frank’s position had come under increasing scrutiny after a desperately poor run of domestic results, with the club languishing down in 16th in the Premier League table and hovering just five points above the relegation zone.
The north London outfit had gone seven matches without picking up a league win entering into Tuesday’s contest and the loss to Newcastle – Spurs’ 11th of the top-flight campaign – proved to be Frank’s farewell.
There had been a growing feeling of animosity towards Frank from Spurs’ fanbase in recent weeks and months and the Dane was targeted with audible chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 52-year-old leaves his post after just eight months at the helm having previously managed Brentford for seven years.
‘The club has taken the decision to make a change in the men’s head coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today,’ a statement on Tottenham’s official website read.
‘Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.

‘However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

Spurs’ wretched domestic form under Frank has made them genuine relegation candidates this season, but it has been a different story altogether in Europe.
The north Londoners sailed through to the knockout phase of the Champions League after suffering just one defeat from their eight group-stage matches, meaning they will face one of Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge or Galatasaray in the last 16.
Frank’s side were eliminated from both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, though, after suffering defeat at the hands of Newcastle and Aston Villa respectively.

The decision to sack Frank leaves Tottenham’s squad in disarray just four days out from their clash with bitter north London rivals Arsenal – the Premier League leaders – this weekend.
According to The Telegraph, Spurs are expected to replace Frank with an interim appointment until the end of the season.
The likes of Roberto De Zerbi, Robbie Keane and ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino are among the bookmakers’ favourites to take over the reins on a permanent basis in the summer.
Despite accumulating a total of just 19 points from Spurs’ last 21 league games, Frank insisted his position was safe as he spoke to the media in the wake of their latest setback.
Asked if his job was at risk, Frank told TNT Sports: ‘I spoke to them [the owners] yesterday, so no.
‘I understand the frustration and the easiest thing is to point at me. That’s part of the job unfortunately.
‘I will work day and night to turn this around but it is not just one person. There is no doubt we need to improve and I need to be part of that.’
Pressed for his reaction to the booing he had faced on BBC Radio 5 Live, Frank added: ‘I understand the frustration. It has been building up a little bit – last season it was similar playing in Europe and the Premier League.
‘We need to be resilient, mentally and physically. I am 100 per cent sure that it is a team effort, and it is not only one person.
‘We are all aligned and we know what needs to be done.’
