Governor Dauda Lawal has said education will continue to receive priority attention under his administration.
The governor disclosed this in Gusau recently at the launching of a book titled ‘University Governance And Insecurity in Nigeria’, in honour of the outgoing V-C of the university, Prof Mu’azu Abubakar.
During the occasion, Governor Lawal, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki, purchased a copy of the book at the cost of N10 million.
The governor also pledged Zamfara Government’s commitment to continuing partnership and supporting the university.
The book launch was part of the end-of-tenure ceremony of Abubakar.
The Vice-Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Prof. Lawal Bilbis, has commended the management of the Federal University Gusau over the rapid development recorded in the institution in spite of the formidable security challenges.
Bilbis, who was the chairman of the occasion, described the publication of the book by the university as a welcome development.
“You know, this is part of our primary activities, we the academicians, I think this book would help in educating the researchers, academic administrators and the society in general.
The Secretary to Zamfara Government, Abubakar Nakwada and the Chief of Staff to Zamfara Governor, Mukhtar Lugga, also donated N 1 million each, among other high profile donations.
Former Governors Abdulaziz Yari and Bello Matawalle donated N2 million each.
Other donors in aid of the book launch included politicians, philanthropists, well-meaning individuals and organisations, among others.
The event was attended by a myriad of important personalities from within and outside the state.
