How Dauda Lawal’s urban renewal reduces road crash by 39% — FRSC

The Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Zamfara Sector Command, says it has recorded 38.9 percent reduction in auto crashes on the major roads of the state in 2025.

The Sector Commander, Aliyu Maaji made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara State Council, in Gusau.

Maaji said the development was a statistical comparative reduction of 2024 and 2025 which gave a margin of 38.9 percent as at December 2025.

He attributed the success to the level of public awareness and sensitisation being carried out through media outlets which enabled the Corps to reach grassroots communities.

He expressed appreciation to journalists in the state for their support in the area of enlightenment.
Maaji called on them to join FRSC Special Marshalls to further contribute their quota in the enforcement of traffic laws, control and rescue of crash victims.

He said involvement of media personnel in special marshal would enhance public awareness and mutual trust.

The sector commander noted with concern how traffic signs were vandalised, and called for collective efforts to protect them.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the State Council of NUJ, Ibrahim Maizare commended the sector commander for keeping mutual relationship with journalists.

He promised the union’s continued support in propagating the activities of FRSC in the state.

He further promised that a substantial number of the NUJ members would join the special marshal and contribute their quota as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
