Oasis star Liam Gallagher appears to have casually confirmed the BBC is eyeing him up for the new season of Celebrity Traitors.

After a triumphant end to season four of the civilian version last month, the murder-mystery reality series will be back later this year with another star-studded cohort of Faithfuls and Traitors for viewers to feast their eyes upon.

The speculation over who could enter the castle walls next, under host Claudia Winkleman’s watchful gaze, is already running rife and expectations for the upcoming cast are sky-high, especially given how successful the first season of famous faces was.

In season one, audiences (which climbed up to a whopping 15 million by the finale last autumn) were treated to stars such as Sir Stephen Fry, Paloma Faith, Celia Imrie and the treacherous victor Alan Carr himself, just to name a few.

But as rumours fly, one British rocker has got ahead of the chatter by confirming he was approached to take part.

Oasis icon Liam, 53, is well-known for his brutally honest, unfiltered and prolific social media posts.

So, when one fan questioned whether he would consider going on The Traitors if asked over the weekend, he had no hesitation in replying: ‘I’ve been asked’.

To which the X user Karen Kelly naturally echoed all our feelings about the prospect by writing: ‘Omg you got to do it!!’.

Of course, his social media confession doesn’t indicate how he responded to the request, so we’re not clear on whether it actually means the Wonderwall hitmaker will be rocking up to the roundtable just yet.

Although if he does, we only hope the show can secure his brother and bandmate Noel as well, for an onscreen reunion after their shock comeback last year, following several years of estrangement.

Talk about a recipe for good TV.

As for who else could be entering the fray, everyone from iconic documentary maker, Louis Theroux, to Girls Aloud star Cheryl is being touted for the line-up

Meanwhile, former sceptic Danny Dyer has been brought around to the idea of appearing on the series, and according to one source, Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones would only want to join if she can be a Faithful.

Who is rumoured for the Celebrity Traitors season two cast?

  • Louis Theroux
  • Cheryl
  • Jamie Oliver
  • Carol Kirkwood
  • Steve Pemberton
  • Amanda Holden
  • Danny Dyer
  • Alison Hammond
  • Ruth Jones
  • Daisy May Cooper
  • Tom Hiddleston

Of course, not every celebrity can make the cut, and Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby recently claimed that despite her eagerness to don a green cloak, it seems the BBC has a ‘no-reality rule’ which she hopes they’ll relax in future seasons.

Essentially, it’s all to play for when it comes to the second season, but no doubt Liam would be a coup for the BBC, encouraging a whole legion of fans from across the generations to tune in.

After all, the Gallagher brothers have proven their enduring popularity with a sold-out reunion tour last summer, with tickets selling like hot cakes.
