This 1948 Nash Ambassador Custom is one of 4,143 fastback sedans produced for the model year, and it was purchased by its late owner in May 2022. The car is finished in blue-green and tan over color-coordinated upholstery, and power comes from a 234.8ci OHV inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include turn signals, a driver-side spotlight, rear-hinged rear doors, a reverse light, a Weather Eye ventilation system, an AM radio, and a Nash-branded under-dash tissue holder. This Series 60 Ambassador is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner’s estate at no reserve with factory literature and a clean Ohio title.

The Nash Ambassador of 1948 was the final example of the model to feature body-on-frame construction before it was replaced by the unibody “Airflyte” Ambassador for 1949. This example was repainted in blue-green and tan under previous ownership, and it features chrome bumpers with overriders, turn signals, a driver-side spotlight, dual side-view mirrors, rear-hinged rear doors, a reverse light, and a central brake light mounted on the trunklid. Areas of paint chips and other imperfections in the finish can be seen in the gallery below.

Aqua-painted steel wheels wear chrome Nash-branded hubcaps, and they are mounted with H78-15″ Goodyear bias-ply whitewall tires. A full-size spare is stowed beneath the trunk floor. The Series 60 Ambassador rode on a 121″ wheelbase and features a coil-sprung independent front suspension and a live rear axle with leaf springs. Stopping is handled by hydraulic drums at all four corners that received a fluid flush in 2025.

The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in blue-green vinyl and gray cloth upholstery along with color-coordinated door panels. A black rubber floor mat is fitted up front, while gray carpets line the rear floors. Amenities include a Weather Eye ventilation system, an AM radio, a locking glovebox door with an inset electric clock, a Nash-branded under-dash tissue holder, and a speaker mounted on the rear parcel shelf.

The two-spoke steering wheel has a worn rim, and it features a chrome horn ring. It sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, approximately 400 of which were added by the late owner. Total mileage is unknown.

The 234.8ci OHV inline-six features seven main bearings, and it was factory rated at 112 horsepower. Replacement spark plugs were installed in 2025, and a fluid service was also performed at that time. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The seller notes that the fuel tank was drained in 2025.
