1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible

This 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible was first delivered to John Linkous Volkswagen in Charlottesville, Virginia, and it has spent most of its time in Florida. The car is finished in Mars Red over black leatherette and is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a white convertible soft top, quarter vent windows, dual side mirrors, Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, 15″ Lemmerz sport steel wheels, a lockable glove box, and a Sony cassette stereo. Purchased by the seller in 2025, this 1303 Super Beetle shows 95k miles and is now offered with a window sticker, the owner’s manual, a tool kit, service records, two sets of keys, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Mars Red and features a white convertible soft top, chrome-finished bumpers, quarter vent windows, dual side mirrors, running boards, and a louvered rear engine cover.

The 15″ Lemmerz sport steel wheels are mounted with Vitour white walls tires, which are said to have been added in preparation for the sale. The car was factory equipped with a MacPherson strut and coil spring front suspension in place of the standard Beetle’s torsion bar setup. The air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and was rated at 48 horsepower and 73 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
