…Says Relationship With Danjuma Is Solid

JALINGO — Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has dismissed speculations of a political rift between himself and elder statesman, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.), insisting that their relationship remains cordial and unshaken.
The governor described his bond with the retired general as “sound, firm and solid,” stressing that Danjuma remains fully supportive of his administration and is not influenced by political detractors.
Kefas made the remarks on Thursday while addressing traditional rulers and stakeholders from Wukari Local Government Area of the state.
“Some people go to General Danjuma to criticise me, but he knows me better than they do,” the governor said. “As a soldier, he understands capacity, discipline and leadership. He is not disturbed by those who go to tell lies against me.”
The governor’s comments come amid changing political dynamics in Taraba State following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the meeting, Kefas pledged to mobilise the state in support of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that Taraba must align with the Federal Government to maximise developmental opportunities. He assured that the state would deliver a strong mandate for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next election cycle.
On security and humanitarian concerns, the governor announced renewed efforts toward the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). He disclosed that a pilot resettlement project is currently underway in Southern Taraba, with plans to replicate the initiative in all conflict-affected communities across the state.
Earlier, the Aku Uka of Wukari, His Royal Majesty Dr. Ishaku Ada Ali, who led the delegation, commended the governor for ongoing developmental projects in Southern Taraba and other parts of the state.
The monarch reaffirmed the support of traditional rulers for the Kefas administration, noting that several of the projects had already begun to yield visible social and economic benefits for their communities.
