The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works, has announced plans to commence repair works on the failed asphalt sections of the ramp/service lane linking Inner Marina to Apongbon Bridge, as well as parts of the bridge’s inbound and outbound lanes.

State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the repairs will begin with the service lane on Thursday, February 5, and are expected to last six weeks, ending on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

“To ensure the safety of road users and facilitate smooth execution of the works, sections of the affected roads will be temporarily closed to traffic,” Osiyemi stated.

Travel Advisory

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the rehabilitation:

Inbound Apongbon Traffic – Service Lane Repairs

From Inner Marina: Use Apongbon under bridge roundabout → Adeniji Adele Road → Ebute Ero → ramp to Apongbon/Eko Bridge.

From Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Third Mainland Bridge, and Victoria Island: Connect to Apongbon Bridge → Eko Bridge.

Inbound Apongbon Traffic – Main Carriageway Repairs

From TBS, Third Mainland Bridge, and Victoria Island: Ramp down at Apongbon under bridge roundabout (by UBA) → Inner Marina → Apongbon Bridge service lane → Eko Bridge.

Repairs will later shift to the outbound section of Apongbon Bridge.

Outbound Apongbon Traffic

From Eko Bridge to Inner Marina: Divert via Ebute Ero Ramp → Adeniji Adele Road → Apongbon under bridge roundabout.

From Eko Bridge to Outer Marina, Victoria Island, and Third Mainland Bridge: Maintain movement on Apongbon Bridge.

Outbound Main Carriageway Repairs

Motorists heading to Outer Marina, CMS, Victoria Island, and Third Mainland Bridge: Divert via Ebute Ero Ramp → Leventis → Outer Marina/CMS.

Traffic bound for Inner Marina: Ramp down via Chapel Street → Apongbon under bridge roundabout.

Osiyemi urged motorists to exercise patience and comply with traffic management measures. Traffic personnel will be deployed to guide motorists and minimize inconvenience during the repair period.

“The temporary road closures and diversions are necessary to ensure successful repair works on the Apongbon Bridge,” he said.
