The accused were identified as Medari Subbaiah, Office Superintendent, and M. Venkatesh, Junior Assistant, both working in the Pay Bills Section. Based on a complaint, a case was registered against Subbaiah under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
ACB officials said Subbaiah allegedly demanded ₹30,000 from Veerapu Shekhar to process a SADAREM certificate for his hearing-impaired wife. Following a complaint, a trap was laid in which Subbaiah allegedly accepted the bribe, passed ₹25,000 to Venkatesh and kept ₹5,000.
Both were arrested and will be produced before the ACB court in Kurnool. Searches are continuing.
