This Volkswagen Beetle was refurbished under previous ownership and was acquired by the seller in 2000. Finished in Pearl White over beige leatherette, the car is powered by a replacement air-cooled 1.2L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include a 12-volt electrical system, a single downdraft carburetor, drum brakes, 15″ steel wheels, chrome bumpers and overriders, a cabin heater, crank windows, and a CD stereo. Work in preparation for the sale consisted of adjusting the carburetor, servicing the front brakes, installing a new set of Coker Classic radial whitewall tires, and replacing the battery. This Beetle is offered with service records and a Washington title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Pearl White. Exterior details include bright trim, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller tells us that the car was involved in a rear-end collision that resulted in “cosmetic” damage, and the trunk lid and a fender were replaced under current ownership. The front bumper is bent, and close-up photos presented in the gallery show dings and blemishes in the paint.

White-finished 15″ steel wheels with pale blue centers wear chrome VW-stamped hubcaps and were mounted with a replacement set of Coker Classic radial whitewall tires in preparation for the sale. Note that the majority of photographs of the car were taken before the tires where changed. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums, and the front wheel cylinders and brake shoes were replaced in preparation for the sale.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in beige leatherette. Salt-and-pepper carpets line the floors, and appointments include a cabin heater, crank windows, and a Prestige CD stereo. Wear is visible on the headliner and seating surfaces.

The white-finished steering wheel features a Wolfsburg crest and frames a 90-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, less than 100 of which were reportedly added since the engine was replaced in 2014. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement air-cooled 1.2-liter flat-four features a 12-volt electrical system, an oil-bath air cleaner, and a single downdraft carburetor. Service in preparation for the sale consisted of adjusting the carburetor and ignition timing and replacing the battery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The rear section of the passenger floorpan has been patched, and additional underside photos are presented in the gallery.

The chassis tunnel stamping “6189342” shown above corresponds to a chassis manufactured in March 1964, while the body tag stamping “116071090” corresponds to a body manufactured in August 1965. Since the car’s body retains design elements of a 1964 model, it is believed that a 1965 clip from a donor car was grafted onto the body under previous ownership.
The current Washington title is a duplicate and carries a Classic brand. The VIN listed on the title matches the chassis stamping “6189342” on the central tunnel.
