The Kwara State Government has confirmed the deadly attack on some communities in Kaiama Local Government Area and strongly condemned the killings.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives.

He described the attack as a cowardly act aimed at innocent civilians.
The governor said: “The incident was a desperate move by terrorist elements trying to distract security agencies, especially as counter-terrorism operations are ongoing in different parts of the state.”

He noted that security forces have continued to record significant successes in dismantling terrorist and kidnapping networks across Kwara.

Governor AbdulRazaq also sympathised with the people of Woro and Nuku communities, particularly families who lost their loved ones.
He reassured residents that the state government remains steadfast in its duty to protect lives and property.

Meanwhile, several houses were reportedly burnt during the violent invasion, leaving many families in mourning.

Security sources said troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside forest guards, have been deployed to the affected areas to restore calm and forestall further attacks.

It was gathered that the attackers allegedly came from Borgu in neighbouring Niger State.
Sources claimed the assailants had earlier been moving through some villages in Niger State, preaching against the Nigerian Constitution, before crossing into parts of Kaiama Local Government Area to carry out the attack.
