Paramount+ is diving into the story behind the real-life figure who inspired Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in The Wolf of Wall Street. The new docuseries explores the world surrounding his rise and fall, revealing details not previously shown on screen.

Jordan Belfort docuseries The Real Wolf of Wall Street coming to Paramount+

Paramount+ has announced a three-part docuseries titled The Real Wolf of Wall Street. It explores the true story of Jordan Belfort and his Stratton Oakmont firm.

Maxine Productions and See It Now Studios are producing the series. It will premiere in 2026. Variety reports that the show presents a version of events “even darker and more debauched than previously known.”

The Real Wolf of Wall Street includes exclusive interviews with insiders who have never spoken publicly about Belfort. It also features 15,000 previously unreleased government documents and new footage. Jordan Belfort does not participate in the production.

Jesse Sweet leads as showrunner. Executive producers include Mary Robertson, Anneka Jones, and Jesse Sweet for Maxine Productions, Jason Leopold for Bloomberg, and Susan Zirinsky and Terence Wrong for See It Now Studios. Cassie Thornton, Amy Palmer, and Michael Bloom also produce. Aysu Saliba and Cara Tortora serve as supervising producers.

Belfort ran a “pump and dump” stock scheme through Stratton Oakmont. He defrauded investors by inflating stock prices and selling shares at a profit. In 1999, he pleaded guilty to securities fraud and money laundering. He served 22 months in federal prison and later became an FBI informant.

Martin Scorsese directed the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street, with Leonardo DiCaprio starring as Jordan Belfort. The film adapts Belfort’s 2007 memoir of the same name and earned five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor. Belfort and Scorsese do not participate in the new docuseries. Paramount+ also streams the original film.

Maxine Productions previously worked on Quiet on Set and The Fall of Diddy, while See It Now Studios has produced Don’t Date Brandon and Thirst Trap. The Real Wolf of Wall Street continues their focus on true-crime and insider accounts.
