Two residents of Ora-Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State were on Sunday night abducted by unknown gunmen.

The town, which is a border community between Osun and Kwara State, was in the spotlight late last year when a retired customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, was abducted.

It was gathered that the gunmen struck at a private residence along Ara-Orim road around midnight, where the victims were kidnapped.

A source simply identified as Adesina told Vanguard on Monday that the gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded the said residence late at night and forcefully took the victims away.

Confirming the incident, Osun Police Command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command had commenced a search and rescue operation to free the victims.

“The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m on Sunday. Our men who went for patrol but went back to their base when the rain started to fall. It was during that period that those people perpetrated that evil act.

“Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi were abducted. The search and rescue teams moved in immediately after the report got to us. They have been combing the area,” he said.
