The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged Nigerians to place their trust in what he described as a “Divine Insurance Policy” with God amid rising insecurity across the country.
Pastor Adeboye made the call while preaching at the church’s monthly Thanksgiving and special prayer service for the transportation sector and their families, held at the RCCG national headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Referencing Psalm 91, the cleric described it as a believer’s unshakable covenant for protection, security, and long life, stressing that ultimate safety does not lie in human policies or assurances.
The programme, themed “Divine Insurance,” was attended by leaders in the transportation industry, church members, and students of Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM).
“A human insurance policy has limits, but the divine insurance from God provides a complete, heavenly shield,” Adeboye said, adding that true security is found only in God’s presence, which offers refuge from all forms of calamity.
He further noted that God’s “insurance” extends beyond what human institutions can provide, covering peace of mind, restful sleep, and inner satisfaction.
“You cannot call an insurance company and say, ‘How much should I pay so that I can sleep well at night?’ They will tell you they don’t cover that. But my God does,” he said.
The RCCG leader, however, stressed that access to this divine cover is conditional. According to him, it is reserved for God’s children and requires a life of holiness, obedience, and faithful service.
“There is a premium for this divine insurance,” Adeboye explained. “If you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God and do what He commands, then you have no cause to worry. God said He will not only provide cover but will bless you beyond measure.”
He added that believers must shun sin and commit to doing God’s will for the insurance to remain valid.
Speaking to journalists after the service, the Special Assistant on Administration to the RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Oladele Balogun, said that while insecurity is often discussed in the context of governance, true safety ultimately transcends government action.
He illustrated his point with an anecdote of a woman who avoided travelling by road due to fear of accidents, only to be fatally struck by a vehicle in front of her home.
According to Balogun, the concept of “Divine Insurance” addresses widespread fear associated with travel and daily life.
“Many people are afraid to travel, but if you are under God’s cover, it does not matter whether you move by day or night—you will be secure,” he said.
He also noted that national access to divine protection is tied to collective moral conduct, arguing that societal vices such as bloodshed, falsehood, and manipulation hinder spiritual covering.
“That is why I call on Nigerians to return to God,” Balogun said. “Let us eschew evil, wickedness, and sin. If we return to God and do His will, we will be under His cover.”
