NHAI Sets June 2027 Deadline For Danapur–Bihta–Koilwar Elevated Corridor

Patna: The connectivity from Patna to West Bihar and from there to its adjacent Uttar Pradesh is all set to undergo a major transition with the 25-km Danapur–Bihta–Koilwar elevated corridor, which is likely to be operational by June 2027. The estimated cost of the project is ₹1,969 crore and it is being built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

“This is the largest elevated corridor in the country and the project will be completed by June 2027,” said NHAI tech manager Arvind Kumar. “Apart from strengthening the state's transportation system, the project will make daily life easier. Travel time will be reduced and this, in turn, will facilitate easier access to trade, industry, education, and healthcare services,” he added.

In addition to this, the Union ministry of road transport and Highways (MoRTH) has increased its allocation for Bihar to ₹3.10 lakh crore for 2026-27. Of that, about ₹1.87 lakh crore is earmarked for NHAI. This is roughly 10 per cent more from the previous Budget. The 245-km Patna–Purnia Six-Lane Expressway, estimated at a cost of around ₹27,000 crore and the Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway which passes through Bihar, will further improve the state’s road network, said the official.
