Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has approved the appointment of Mr Daniel Eke as the new Sporting Director of Enyimba Football Club of Aba, following the resignation of former Super Eagles player, Ifeanyi Ekwueme from the post last week.

The appointment of Eke was announced by Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu on Sunday.

According to Kanu, the appointment of Daniel Eke as the new Sporting Director of Enyimba was part of the reorganization being carried out by the State government to return the club to its  rightful place among Africa’s elite clubs.

Abia State government expressed disappointment with the gradual decline of  Enyimba from its former dominant status, making it clear that Enyimba’s present position on the 2025/2026  Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL table is short of its brand.

According to the statement, the new Sporting Director, Daniel E‍ke, is a p‌roduct of t‌he Eny‍imba FC feeder‍ team and‍ has steadily built an impressive career in football management and p‌layer development over the years, including serving as Enyimba’s  Scouting Director from 2023 to date.

Similarly, Abia State government has disclaimed the news that former Super Eagles defender, Uche Okechukwu was appointed as Enyimba’s Sporting Director.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the general public is hereby inform‍ed that Mr Uche Okechukwu is a duly appointed and‌ sworn-in member of th‍e Enyimba FC Board,” Kanu said.
