A fully loaded 40-foot containerised truck has overturned along Oke Gbegun, Ishagamu Road, near LASPOTECH, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, following an alleged brake failure.
The accident, which occurred around midnight, reportedly left the driver trapped inside the tractor head of the vehicle.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, said its Rescue and Recovery Team was immediately deployed to the scene for traffic control and emergency response.
In a post on X, LASTMA said “The accident involved a fully loaded 40-foot containerised truck which experienced brake failure and overturned at Oke Gbegun along Ishagamu Road.
“The driver was trapped inside the tractor head following the crash.”
LASTMA disclosed that a Super Metro 002 high-capacity recovery truck was mobilised to facilitate rescue and recovery operations.
“Our Rescue and Recovery Team is currently on ground, and a Super Metro 002 high-capacity recovery truck has been deployed for immediate vehicle removal,” the agency added.
The authority noted that the road was partially blocked as a result of the accident, adding that traffic diversion had been put in place to ease vehicular movement.
“The road is partially obstructed, and traffic diversion has been activated to ensure free flow of traffic while recovery operations continue,” LASTMA said.
As of the time of filing this report, rescue and recovery efforts were still ongoing.
