This 1970 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus was acquired by the seller, Miami car customizer Roly Fernandez, in 2023 and subsequently refurbished in 2024. Work included repainting the body in custom oil paint artwork and retrimming the interior in blue leather. Power is provided by a 1,584cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include white bumpers, a front air dam, 15″ EMPI Raider wheels, a driver-side mirror, an AM/FM radio, and a cabin heater. This Type 2 is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The body was finished in custom oil paint artwork by the seller, who states that the design references their history in the automotive custom industry during the 1980s and 1990s. The hand-painted livery features a complex array of geometric shapes, abstract splatters, and textured brushwork in a multicolor palette. Specific motifs include a stylized United States flag on the rear corner and engine lid, as well as “Roly Fernandez The Legend” script on the roof. The finish was sealed with multiple layers of automotive clear coat.

The seller notes that rust repairs were performed prior to the application of the artist oil and automotive clear coat. Exterior details include white bumpers, a fiberglass front air dam, and a driver-side mirror. The driver’s door handle is difficult to operate.

Chrome 15″ EMPI Raider wheels are mounted with Petlas tires measuring 165/80 up front and 205/70 out back. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. Service in 2014 included replacing the wheel cylinders and brake shoes. The seller reports that the wheels, tires, shocks, and tie rods were replaced under current ownership.

The forward cabin features bucket seats upholstered in blue leather along with a black dashboard, door panels, and floor covers. Equipment includes a Sony stereo and Kicker speakers.

The seller states that the Campmobile interior materials were removed under current ownership and replaced with the current setup, which includes a blue leather wraparound bench seat and custom carpets.

The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 90-mph VDO speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 97k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. The turn signal stalk was replaced but works intermittently.

The 1,584cc flat-four was reportedly rebuilt in 2013 under previous ownership. Equipment includes a Solex carburetor and a Pertronix distributor. Service in 2020 included replacing the carburetor, fuel filter, and hose clamps. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The transaxle gear oil was changed under current ownership. Corrosion is noted on the underside components and the driver’s side floor. Photos are provided in the gallery.
