This 1970 Chevrolet El Camino was built with a six-cylinder engine and had been sitting for approximately 20 years when the seller acquired it in 2018. Subsequent work consisted of disassembling the car, replacing the powertrain, overhauling the suspension and braking systems, and fitting modern conveniences. The 468ci big-block V8 features aluminum heads and an Edelbrock Pro-Flo fuel-injection system, and it is linked to a built 700R4 automatic and an Eaton 3.55 Positraction rear end. QA1 suspension components and Wilwood rear calipers with a hydroboost system were also fitted along with a heavy-duty cooling system. The body was repainted with metallic blue with a black vinyl top, and the interior was redone with Vintage Air, a Bluetooth-capable stereo, a Flaming River steering rack, and an SS-style steering wheel. Completed in 2024, this El Camino is now offered with records and a clean Nevada title in the seller’s name.

The seller tells us that the body was disassembled before it was refinished in Astro Blue (25) with a black vinyl roof and black lower bodywork. The front and rear windscreens have been replaced along with the weather seals, the exterior trim was polished, and LED lights were fitted.

The suspension and braking systems were both overhauled, and it now has QA1 front coilovers and four-wheel discs with a Wilwood Big Brake kit out back and a CPP hydroboost system. The 15″ Rally-style wheels are mounted with white-letter BFGoodrich rubber.

The interior was redone with insulation below the replacement carpeting, and the reupholstered bench seat has an armrest with cup holders. A Vintage Air climate-control system was installed along with modern sound system linked to a Pioneer head unit. Speakers are integrated into the kick panels, and the headliner was replaced.

The SS-style wheel is mounted on a Flaming River column, and Dakota Digital gauges were installed. The 1,700 miles indicated represents the distance driven on the build.

The 468ci big-block V8 features aluminum heads and an Edelbrock Pro-Flo fuel-injection system. Long-tube headers flow into a dual exhaust system, and the four-core radiator is cooled by dual electric fans. A high-torque mini-starter and Holley in-tank pump were used.

The built 700R4 automatic uses heavy-duty clutch packs and a shift kit, and the Eaton 3.55 Positration differential has a Moser Engineering cover.

Decoding the Fisher body tag reveals the following information:

  • ST: 70-13680 – 1970 El Camino
  • BDY: BL 05130 – Van Nuys, California assembly sequence
  • TR: 764 – Medium Blue vinyl upholstery
  • PNT: 25 – Astro Blue paint

A binder of records is included in the build.
