Hyderabad: The BRS on Thursday erupted in anger at the notice issued to its president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao by the Special Investigation Team probing the telephone-tapping case, calling the move “political vendetta” ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.

Harish Rao said the timing of the SIT action smacked of desperation by the Congress government in the run up to the municipal polls. “KCR is the architect of Telangana and a leader revered by millions, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is attempting to malign KCR’s reputation to deflect attention from his failures and the alleged involvement of Congress leaders in multiple scams,” Harish Rao said.
